Fiber, Data, Access Control, Comissioning and Start Up
Installed Cat6, and Fiber at Suncor Fort Hills site. Most of the work completed was in main control room as well as M.T.R. This included mounting all cabinets and racks (50+),running all fiber and dressing in splice cabinets. Prepping and splicing high count fiber. Other duties included, Terminating security access panels, installing Unicams for the CCTV system, setting up control room consoles.
From there I moved on to Commissioning. This scope was to run fiber circuits though out the entire plant as well as troubleshoot and fix communication issues that came up with systems failing at start up. Also in the C&SU scope was fire alarm circuits. This required building a Class A loop, and then inserting specific “nodes” into the loop without dropping the ring. Tested communication lines to ensure that specifications were met, using testing instruments such as Fluke. Install fiber optic cable, prepare and splice using Fujikura equipment, keeping track of the count as well. Test with OTDR and power meter, keeping track of test results.
